I believe that the world has always been very rough if one is a female, but for a short while it appeared that some strides were being made for women. Now, it seems most of those gains are being eroded as the emphasis on economic survival of the fittest in the developed western hemisphere is becoming more and more prevalent - especially weakening whatever little safety net there ever has been in the past century...What do other people think about this topic? Thanks.

I think it is equally anti human.
There are growing ammounts of ridiculous standards of expectation being put on all people -men, women and children.

It's not a conspiracy. It's commerce.

The individual human being is being destroyed by the corporations. You're right about any safety net being removed.

The modern materialist methods of Government have done nothing good for society and are in fact destabilising it when it is in fact their job to stabilise our nations not just their own lives and positions.

It does seem that in the last 10 years more has been done to destroy feminism than ever before and much of the destruction has been caused by women as men. The overall theme has been to demand respect from others rather than respecting and accepting oneself.

But....this is the scary bit.... If you respect yourself and are content with being yourself and being who and what you are - there isn't a lot you need is there? In which case there is little that can be sold to you as you don't need it. If everybody was like that, it would be a recipe for financial disaster and economic recession. So Governments are quite ok with tv adverts and magazines which promote envy of the size zero look, emotional dysfunction etc.

Every advert sends a message. The message is either - you need this product or this product will stop you feeling unhappy or our product will make you happy all the time.

The standard structure for adverts of the first and second messages is:
Show a person struggling and worried
Show and announce product
Show the person happy

Don't take my word for it, turn your TV on right now and watch and compare my example. It's especially prominent in diarhea cure ads, headache pills ads, loan ads etc.

The luxury always happy ads are really simple:
people laughing , running, driving, playing and kissing in sunshine with the product.

This type is used by the mobile phone companies and car manufacturers because you don't need their product.....unless you think it'll will make you happy.

I don't believe it's even about survival of the fittest any more. The successful are more frequently the dysfunctional, selfish, weak, nasty types. They are successful materially on a temporary basis because they lie their way in to a job, lie constantly to keep themselves out of trouble and lie themselves up the ladder when they've been caught out. Instead of getting fired they get promoted....for being incompetant and dishonest.

It's not easy being a man in this world but I hate to think how hard it must be to be a woman. And God only knows what kind of a mess kids will be in the future.

It is becoming more mysogenistic though and disrespect towards others especially women is being promoted.

I find it interesting how you phrased your question....." even more misogynistic". Not words like, unfair, or unbalanced nor even un-equal. Your question implies that you have already done the research and dissertation, and concluded that misogyny is the root cause of all. That men hating and subjugating women is the only viable and intelligent answer to this question.

There are more women in college, in the medical arts and in the board room as executives, now more than ever before. While single parent households do continue to persist, I do not feel that can be laid firmly at the door of misogynistic behavior.

Misogynistic behavior demands that there is only one gender at fault and I reject that theory. I would also add, that as women have made these great and tremendous strides of which they have worked extremely hard for, that they can not have it both ways.

You strap on the armour and go to the battlefield to conquer, but wish to retreat and call it misogyny when a man counters. I would be the first to agree that women have indeed seen their share and continue to have trials and tribulations.

But, I part ways when faced with granting eternal victim-hood status for either group.

Just from an ignorant male’s point of view, it's possible. Like you said, their have definitely been great strides for women, but at the same time, America has driven deeper into a “freedom” conundrum. I don't believe that the emphasis on economic concerns has eroded any progress near as much as the recent revival of moral relativism. With no moral absolutes many men are now more openly able to practice certain misogynistic behavior with little or no penalty. For example, look at the growth of the porn industry in the recent decade. Sure advancements in the information technology field have had some influence on porn’s growth but not near as much as the near open acceptance of infidelity and sexual promiscuity. With the acceptance of everything, some things get buried.

I would question if "economically" women have made any gains at all. Some individuals have done very well out of demonising men in the name of the Feminist movement and creating a gender devide but in general I could not honestly say that women in general have made any economic gains.

Women have secured the right to vote, achieved "equality" with men and realised their right to speak for themselves but these are not so much gains as basic human rights.

Economically, a small percentage of women have done very well for themselves but the vast majority still earn less than their male counterparts and the jobs with the real big salaries, politics and business, are still almost completely dominated by men.

Still at least women are getting out a lot more nowadays. To their low paid services and factory jobs.

Oh and everything that "Strap 2" said as well.

I think the threat is coming from a quarter you haven't considered. The economy has never been so friendly to women; the problem is the growing community of very conservative people, in particular muslims, who don't want women to have the roles they have.

Yes, I think so... but I am looking from a somewhat skewed perspective based on bad experiences, so I hope I'm wrong.

Oh, and anyone who denies that society has eradicated misogyny is at best blind and at worst a total imbecile.

the trick is, to make you want more than you need, and more and more. they drowned people in choice.but many are now on the run, trying to find simpler life styles, leaving the rat race
we need to not want things that ruin what we need.if one wants everything on offer, one is a slave, and will never be at rest. lets be more simple.

The rappers started the downward slide. Everyone else just got caught up in the avalanche.

I don't think it is as bad as you are impling. You still have the vote! Don't you?

I think you are being very very paranoid. Women are wildly successful in today`s modern societies....not only that, I feel women will be dominant in future western societies. Men are softening up, if you haven`t noticed......
Why do you feel so weak, so victimized ?
Well, with the two thumbs down at this early point I can see that some women hate men so much that they even want to destroy their male supporters.......I guess that`s what being a "feminazi" is all about, huh ?

You are talking absolute rubbish, our society is riddled with anti male gender bias.

There are just too many examples of types of anti male gender bias and persecution for me to particularise here so I will restrict myself to just a few specific examples.

Twenty years ago my ex told the police that I physically assaulter her. It was a total lie with no supportive evidence but the police still sent a riot van to my house and a large policeman assaulted me for no apparent reason. Had it been the other way around they would not have assaulted her on my behalf.

Eight years ago for no apparent reason my ex tried to cut my throat with a large knife, my oldest son took the knife off her to protect me. I reported this assault to the police but they were not interested because I am just a man and she was a woman.

Last year my ex whom I had not seen for six years broke into my home in the middle of the night with two men. One of the men was bigger, stronger and younger than me, he carried a hammer and had a large German Shepherd dog with him. I was physically assaulted for three quarters of an hour. My ex smashed some of my property, she stole money, some tobacco and my two guitars. She also tried to blackmail me for more money. I reported the matter to the police and they said she should be charged with burglary, criminal damage, theft, blackmail and assault. She was caught and she admitted it. Because she admitted it and it was a first offence she was let off with a caution. I was tipped off by one of the policemen involved who told me that the reason she got off was because the custody Sargent at the police station that night was a woman.

If it were me (or any other man for that matter) who did those things to her there is absolutely no way I would have got off with anything less than a very lengthy a prison sentence.

Several times when I was with my ex she tried to poison me, later on she did the same to the man she married after she left me, in both cases the police were not interested in her attempted murders because she is a woman and she simply starts the lies and starts to cry and blame the men in her life who are actually innocent victims of her abuse and because she is a woman most people are stupid enough to believe her lies.

I bought up five children with my ex and I love them all so much but I can not see them because my ex has turned them against me by telling them lies about me that are so disgusting that if I were to tell you what they were you would likely be ashamed to be a woman. My ex has ignored the court's order to give me an address where I can contact my children and she gets away with it because she is a woman.

I have since found out that two of the children are not mine but I still have to pay the CSA even though I am not the biological father.

My ex is a child abuser and she gets away with it because she is a woman.

The above is only a fraction of the despicable things my ex did and got away with because she is a woman. After she left I spent seven years alone too afraid of women to allow one near me. Nine months ago I finally got a girlfriend who is truly decent and she describes me as a darling man but I still only let her near me once per fortnight because I don't ever want to be abused by a woman again. But more importantly, I don't want to be abused by a society who are so gender biased against men.

The type of situation I have described whereby a woman abuses her man and gets away with it is very very common but it is not normally talked about because when men are abused it is not taken seriously. It happens because not only is the manipulative woman always believed, no matter how outlandish her lies, but society actually condones her behaviour and effectively assists her in the abuse of her man and her children.

My experience of women and society and the experience of tens of thousands of other men regarding the same rather suggests that to be a man in today's society is to be a second class citizen.
