I don't think any Black sees them as there leaders. Its just that they do have the media's ear. Its very hard to get the media to respond to anything that the African American population does unless some one of note is involved. So they serve their purpose. The can bring the media's attention to various problems. However most times it ends up as a sound bite on the news. The Imus and the Micheal Richards situation were large stories. Their involvement made it even larger.

As for this whites as slaves thing. I've never heard anything about it and I'm a big time newshound.

If the media doesn't like them they should pay more attention to the Black communitity surely they can find other Black leaders to speak with if they try.

disagree that they incite racial hatred. rather, they espouse a view that has always made MANY others outside the Black community uncomfortable. let me quickly add they do NOT speak for every Black person who walks the planet..okay? I have seen them apologize. Jesse most notably at the Democratic national convention for the "hymie" remark. I KNOW that his sins will never be forgiven by those who don't like him At the same time no one mentions Rush Limbaugh's drug abuse, or the fact that the first lady ran over someone who died. Their sins are not tossed about. They are managed, understood. Jesse on the other hand causes folks to lose focus Too bad, so sad, there is much work to be done here in America. Neither Jesse nor Al should be the focus in this debate. the issue is the dignity of women.

Thank you for asking that question!!! maybe because if a white person does say that al sharpton & jesse jackson are setting race relations back so we should fire them ... there would be riots in the streets, because it's okay to accuse a white person of screwing up race relations because of racism or what have you. but if you're white and you say it, ... you're considered a racist! Kind of a catch 22 if you ask me.

I know that racism still exists ... but more times than not the white people who are prosecuted for racist crimes weren't trying to be racist. and the ones that ARE racists get to hide behind thier "rights" as an American Citizen (i.e. "skin heads")

I'm saying it .Many are .They are setting back race relations ..but only among the uninformed . The rest of the population know an idiot when they see one . Fire C BS too . Imagine going into business making up the news and appointing yourself ruler of America ?

If the people that were singled out by his Imus' insult were the major voice screaming for his dismissal.. I would understand .. but to have different people swoop in on the controversy and jumping up and down be demanding attention is just shamelss self promotion.

I say shut them all up.. and let's all move on already.
Imus will only be heard from again if he takes a satalite contract.. let's banish Jackson and Sharpton to the same fate.
Get all of them out of the mainstream and be done with the drama of it all.

Too bad Dr. King isn't alive today. He would set these two hypocrites (Sharpton and Jackson) straight in a heart beat.

Imus was a pain in the a** with his shock jock job, but he did help a lot of disabled and disadvantaged kids with his charity work. Millions of dollars worth of help every year for a really long time.

Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson are truely antiwhite, but I wonder how that works with them both being reverands? I don't think what Don Imus said was nice, But I think his generousity , to ALL colors of people should be considered.

Because it is OK for black people to be racist toward whites apparently...but the second a white man like Imus makes a smart *** comment meant to be funny to his audience and nothing more, he is called racist...BTW, where were Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson when OJ beat up Nicole and then killed Nicole and Ron?(2 WHITE people)

In today's society that would be racist, unfortunately due to politicians mollifying the voting masses, the only race without rights is Caucasian..

I agree with you. I think they both need to mind their own business. What I want to know is how can they call themselves Reverends? I think it was wrong for Imus to say what he did but he said he was sorry and I truly think he meant what he said. What about the Duke young men? Where is their apology from Al and Jesse? I can't stand these 2 men. They are doing the DEVIL'S work not the LORD'S work. I am going to pray for them both!!!!!!
