Ouch, this is a bad one. If you have an HR department, go talk to someone there. If they are ethical at all, and most HR people are, they'll keep your name confidential and look into the situation.

Well unfortunatly you are in a position that people find themselves in all the time. Typically people will find representation from a labor union because managers do things like this.
The best thing I can tell you is that you need to document, document, document, and keep track of changes being made. Talk to your HR department to seek advise in how to deal with the situation. Retaliation from your management is against the law, however rarely upheld.
Most people would just ignore the issue however what the first line managers are doing is violating the laws by padding time. Depending on the state you are in, this could be considered a felony and jail time may be appropriate.

Well, venting on yahoo answers is a start.
Sorry about the pettiness going on at work. The good news is that your place is not the only place that this is happening.
Unfortunately this will happen everywhere.
My suggestion is kind of the credo that I adhere too. "Be true to yourself, because it's all on the wheel"
Yeah I know that, that is cheesy but there is not much you can do without making yourself look like the bad person.
So if you believe in your ethics and hope that it all comes back around then, I really feel that it will come back to you in a positive way.

I'm having work issues too. The best thing to do is just stay out of the situation yourself and maybe even seek different employment. Then you can still be friends with them, but you don't have to see them on a professional level.
Workplace politics suck.

You should first be able to prove that they are in fact doctoring time sheets. Once you have your proof, you need to go to your superior, or thiers if they are yours, and submit your evidence. It is not only ethically wrong but they could face criminal charges for the dishonesty. You can always report it anonymously so that no reprocusions be taken against you. If you were the owner what would you want someone in your shoes to do?

It's a tough one! Ultimately it is a loss prevention issue as what they are doing is theft but, as they are also your friends, you obviously don't want to turn them in. You could confront them about it but that too could backfire and cause them to turn against you. I think in time they will get themselves caught out without you having to take action. I would make sure, however, that you can in no way be construed as being involved in any way at all - protect yourself because you can't rely on anyone else to.

This is a serious allegation. If they are reporting non-existant overtime they are cheating the company. If you konw about it and don't report them you are abetting them in this behavior.
Go to HR IMMEDIATELY.

this is a tricky one as they are your friends. I think i would tell my friends how i feel and see what happens from there.
It is wrong what your line manager is doing, perhaps you should tell him you are aware of it and that he should stop and if he dont you wont have no alternative other than to go above his head. I will leave it up to you. Good luck......

You should find proof of this first then take it to their boss and ask that your name be left out, i only say leave your name out of it for the fact that you dont want to get fired. If it does get to out of hand then i would start to look for a new job. if you prefer not to do that then i would just leave it alone.

Do you have an union in your workplace?
If so then ask your rep to make an official complaint on your behalf.
