It has gotten so commercial and stupid in the last 3 months!
They repeat the same line through the whole song. I used to like rap but there is something wrong!
I hate This Is Why I'm Hot, it sounds like my baby cousin wrote it.
I just heard this song by Fabolous and he repeats "diamonds on my damn chain" through the whole thing.
All those Southern dance songs sound the same. Who is that ignorant ho talking about "32 flavors of my bootylicious bubble gum" that sounds so stupid and it disgraces our community.
Nas is right hip hop is dead!!

Eminem sucks, he is a freak. People only like him because he's white.

Eighties and early nineties rap was cool. The current stuff is just too redundant. They all just copy each other. On top of that, if you're going to rap, you should flow with your background music, which most current rap artists don't seem to understand.

I guess I would have to say I haven't really given rap a chance.I think the only type I have heard has been the gangsta rap ( I must admit I was not aware there were different styles of rap).I think rap was originally supposed to be telling about life in the street .In my opinion it seemed to glamorize a negative way of life and didn't seem to be a good message for young people ( or anyone really). The few times I did listen to it found it difficult to keep up with the words.Music is very subjective and fortunately there is something out there for everyone.I think what you say about music being too commercial is probably true for most music styles.Today music ,in any genre ,is all about what sells.Just curious are you involved in creating music at all? I know I can't sing but I don't let a lack of talent stop me.

well, rappers have realized that club songs, songs with a nice beat and a catchy chorus will sell...and mims does talk about more than this is why im hot, he actually explains it...and alot of ppl can relate to what hes saying...and i havent heard fabulous yet...but i mean if ppl would listen to the actual words sometimes and not focus so much on the catchy chorus, then youll see why some raps songs are actual hits...

Well first of all I agree with you about "rap" but please understand Hip Hop and rap are NOT the same thing. NAS indicating that Hip Hop is dead was referring to the fact that Hip Hop has gotten jumbled into this mesh of Rap & R&B, which it is not.

You can only sample so much music and talk about money and ho's for so long, and then it all starts to sound the same.Hopefully the next big thing involves people creating original music ,not derivative ,repetitious schoolyard rhymes.

I have several african american friends that hate c-rap.
Its a blight on the music world. Parents involved in the scene should be ashamed.
The language is especially depraved. The recent row over nappy headed whatevers.. is a joke.

Rap music should be FIRED.

I only listen to Eminem. I actually haven't listened to anything new for the past couple of years now coz I stopped listening to the radio. I mean, I literally stopped, and since my car's radio antenna has been broken for years, it helps me not listen to all this commercial stuff anymore. Like you, I started gettin tired of the same old cRap for a long time now.

Rap has always been commercial and it didn't start getting stupid until the gansta crap began getting way out of control in the early 90s.
