Someone recently told me,"I'm just glad there was a ram in the bush because he was adamant about getting his way." What is ram in the bush? I have heard its biblical, but I can't make heads or tails on this one.

Never heard that one! But a quick Internet search of '"ram in the bush" meaning' found this:

In Genesis CH.22 1-14:
God tested Abraham's faith. He told Abraham to take his son for a burnt offering, but before Abraham could kill him, the angel of the lord told him to stop.
Genesis ch 22 vs 13:
"Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son."

When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, (his son of 14 years) because God had told him too, JUST as the knife was about to kill Isaac, who was bound and lying on the altar of sacrifice , an angel shouted "Stop! Now God knows you have faith (or words to that effect)." So Abraham stopped.
Just then a ram was heard bleating in a bush nearby and there was the animal for the sacrifice. (God required sacrifices in the Old Testament of the Bible)
The meaning therefore of the phrase is that there can sometimes be an 'out' for a difficult situation, and presumably; God supplied it. As He did for Abraham.

In modern times... A spare...a better option. Ex. U always gotta keep a ram in the bush..

In more modern times like today this term, though I doubt you encountered it in this context, has been changed to ''Rammin' the bush'', Rammin' being short for 'ramming', as in pushing hard again and again, and 'the bush' referring to a woman's private area, if you will. Rammin' the bush means doing 'it'.
