Listen. Imus screwed up and was wrong and he needed to be called on the carpet for it as they say. He will find another radio job somewhere.
My problem with this is two fold.
1. Your right, it has gone too far and there are many incidences of people speaking about other people in a bad way but as long as both are the same race no one makes a fuss about the specific language used. But if they are not the same race then look out.
2. When is Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson going to be called onto the carpet for comments that they have made over the years. A person should make sure their own house is clean before critisizing others.
But again either way Imus has been asking for this for years...

Jesse Jackson??? It was Al Sharpton. I don't believe that it was blown out of proportion. This is not the first time Imus has made racist remarks...and they were not just about African Americans. He has said nasty things about Jewish and gay people. I watched the Larry King show the other night and one of the board members from CBS was interviewed and he said that Imus violated a company policy. CBS does not tolerate such behavior...and because of what Imus said a lot their sponsers were about to pull out and they were going to lose a lot of money(in my opinion that is the real reason they terminated him). Imus will probably get another show on XM radio anyway. Also, stop assuming that all black people approve of the negative stereotypes portrayed in alot rap videos and music.
Btw, you need to get all of your facts straight before posting. There are plenty of white kids that have dropped out of school, gotten pregnant at a very young age, live on welfare etc.

I remember I-man in the early 70s. He's gotten into trouble before for sticking his foot in his mouth, but this time, it's fatal. It looks like he'll take the route of Howard Stern and go to satellite radio. With the media, who knows? This might have been a ploy to advertise satellite radio and sell more subscription. In the end, everything is about money.

Haha.. this goes on and on...Yes, it's blown out of proportion.. I'm not going to comment on the rest because my mom said If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all..
I think that's what Imus mom should have told him...

it was a joke taken out of context. i agree its blown out of proportion and agree if Rev. AL and mr jackson really wanted to help other they would focus on the inner cities and try to fix the problems there and leave dumb Imus alone.

Don Imus created this situation with his big mouth and poor taste. Now he's fired! For those who say this was all one big joke...who's laughing now. Do you think Don Imus is laughing? Or is he sitting on his ranch sobbing about his stupidity?

i TOTALLY 100% think it was blown out of proportion. I dont think it was a big deal. He is intitled to his opinion, just like Sean Hannity or Howard Stern are. I think ppl take things WAY to seriously now a days, and become offended easy. I just say: get over it!
