The AZTECS originally came from the north of Mexico of what we now call the United States. They migrated southward around the 12th or 13th century A.D. They have a legend that they passed a sacred tree on which sat an eagle. They decided to found their city there: TENOCHTITCHILAN.
The year was supposed to be 1245. They were originally members of the Tepanican Alliance of Toltecs-out of Tulan and were reputed to be part of the Toltec alliance which is reputed to have destroyed or sealed the destruction of the Mayan Civilization.

Eventually they revolted from the Tepanican alliance and formed what was known as the empire of the triple alliance-with TEXACOCO and TLCOPAN. They extended the empire to include most of what is now Mexico. They had two elite orders of soldiers- EAGLES and JAGUARS. In 1521 they were conquered by the Spannish under Cortez. They counterattacked and drove out the Spanniards but the Spanniards returned and defeated them. The very last Aztec stronghold that fell was ROTTEN CANE which fell in 1545.

Today their decendents live in Mexico and are mostly christians. You can see the ruins of their temples if you go to Mexico. Hope this helps.

The Aztecs originated in what is now Mexico, but at the time, they called their land Tehnoctitlan. Hernan Cortez came over from Spain in the 1500's and conquered the Aztec leader, Montezuma. The Spanish people that followed Cortez out there had babies with the Aztecs, creating the Mestizo race, which makes up most of the current Mexican population.

The people today referred to the Aztecs originated in the land of Aztlan a place to the north of the Valley of Mexico, perhaps in what is now the American Southwest. Linguistically, their language, Nahuatl, is related to several languages spoken in what is now the United States. The Uto-Aztecan language family extends from Mexico all the way to the Great Basin (Oregon, Utah, Idaho, California, Nevada, and Arizona). The Aztec origin myth may be based on a distan memory of proto-Indian migration across the North American continent.

According to Aztec legend, the Aztec [Mexicas] originated from a place called Aztlan which was in north or northwest Mexico. They were a group of nomadic tribes living right on the threshold of civilized society in Mesoamerica. They finally settled on the islands of Lake Texcoco and founded Tenochtitlan.

Hope that helps a little bit!

Wherever the Aztecs came from, it was in a time when their world was not divided into countries. Therefore, there is no answer to your question.

There was no country there at that time. The land now is Mexico, but if you're looking for an historical answer, I'm not sure what it would have been called.
