There is a lot of debate on this issue. It is known that the fetus is alive and conscious many weeks before birth (hence the intrauterine surgeries to tackle health issues before the baby is born). At the moment of conception the debate is not wether the embryo is alive or not (it is) but wether if it is a conscious being. So from that point of view the answer would be YES.

Now if you are talking metaphysically (Where is one's soul before conception? and that kind of stuff)...only God knows (he, he, he).

are not you fortunate to have born by someone invisible that has allowed you to get a pc and go on line to Yahoo so that you'll babble on and sense solid about your self. per chance in case you've been born to someone seen you are able to be a extra helpful human being.

So, are you pro-life or pro-choice? Either way, I think the answer is yes: trees aren't born, but they're still alive. So are ameobas and other single-celled organisms. So too are all the animals that we routinely slaughter and eat.

So, I think the more important question is: are we more willing to kill something before it's born?

Yes, they are living inside their mothers womb. They still kick, smile, pee, suck their thumbs, feel pain and prodding... They are totally living and conscious.
