Evaporating water takes heat out of the air. When it rains there is alot of water (drops) in the air all-of-the-sudden, and some of the water off the droplets will be evaporated into the air, which takes heat out of the air (and puts it into the water vapor), which lowers the temperature of the air.

The overall temperature of the air will remain close to what it was though, because it isn't raining EVERYwhere. Where it is not raining the temperature will be the same as what it was, then when it quits raining the slightly warmer air will move into the place where it rained and warm it up back to normal.
