A quick primer in static electricity...
Static charges build up when molecules bump into each other, and there's no way for excess electrons to reach "ground."
A good grinder trying to avoid this problem should use the ground in your electrical circuit to avoid this problem.
If it's cordless, it could have a piece of metal that completes the circuit all the way from the blades, through the motor and down to the base. If you're on a solid surface counter top, it will be an insulator and keep it from discharging. Check the bottom for some type of metal. Either run it in a stainless steel sink (connected to pipes that are grounded) or less effectively, touch that part with your finger to discharge. By the way, it's probably not a good idea to run one with a cord in a sink - electrocution is far worse than static in your coffee!
If that doesn't work, try opening the top as little as possible and stirring the grounds with a metal utensil to pull out the static.
For the person in the car... you get the shock from your car when outside of it because you are standing on the ground. When inside, you are touching only the car and there's no where to discharge to.
The humidifier suggestion works because the water molecules can conduct the charge through the air to the ground.

in case you dont desire to pay for a humidifier, fill a pot or saucepan with water and enable it steam on the range-- the steam may have an same result as a humidifier. Dryer sheets paintings properly for speedy fixes- contained in the dryer helps some, yet you are able to also rub a sheet without delay on your hair, clothing, dogs, or perhaps if has a static-carry to it.

They only way would be to ground the device somehow. In other words, like running a wire from an outlet ground to the outer shell of the device. Or - putting the device on a grounding mat like the type used for electronic assembly.

The air is too dry. Humidifier will help with that. Or at least boil some water on the stove, it will do the same thing.

That is a good question. When I go to get out of my car and go to close the door I get shocked, so I just go ahead and touch my car and get the shock over with. It hurts but then I'll go ahead and shut the door with no shock.
