I got a response from someone "over 3,333 American soldiers have been killed and another 33, 000 wounded, many horribly crippled and disfigured for life. Incredibly brave young men and women—yet in reality victims of a fundamentalist/political cult’s deadly shadow. The independent public database, www.iraqbodycount.net, reports over 600,000 innocent civilian deaths in Iraq resulting directly from military action by the United States and its allies" If this is even close to being true. The war for freedom? is misleading! Too many lives have suffered to get where they are right now. And nothing has been resolved. Sadam Husein must look like a Saint compared to Bush???

Your facts and figures speak for themselves really, even if more Iraqis did die under Sadam than have so far during the coalition's invasion.
Democracy cannot be successfully introduced into someone else's country at the point of a gun. Yet this is how Bush (and he is clearly still supported in this by many Americans) has chosen to bring USA's version of democracy to Iraq.
As long as Americans support their country's chosen role of introducing 'freedom' and 'democracy' to countries to whose established regimes they object, American troops, and others, will continue to die overseas, taking with them huge numbers of the very people they seem to believe they are helping.
Philip H - USA and coalition troops are responsible for all the deaths in Iraq - if not by their direct actions then by their presence.

Isn't amusing in a sad tragic way .. how people will take your question and instantly accuse you of attacking the soldiers ......are they totally blind as to what it is you have written.... This war is Vietnam all over again ... GOOD soldiers dying for a NO GOOD cause... what was it again ( re Iraq) .. WMD?? or was it Imminent Threat ??? or was it a regime change?? September11th ( that had NOTHING TO DO WITH SADAM) or was it all just over oil. Mission Accomplished ? how many years later?? My heart goes out to the soldiers and their families and NOBODY I KNOW who is against the war ... Hates the soldiers .. they ALL have the soldier's best interest at heart. So many Americans I know live in more fear of their Government that they actually do of a terrorist attack. They are afraid of the rights that they are losing under the guise of the patriot (sp) act.. they are afraid of the enemies that they believe their Government is creating.... Sadam was NO threat to the USA.( no disputing he was to certain groups within his own people) ... yet how many times have you read people writing about how much safer they feel without sadam... let's just say SUCKED IN BIGTIME PEOPLE.. so many of you are allowing yourselves to live fearfully . a ploy of your government so that you will be prepared to do what the presidents asks whatever means to justify HIS end. Having said ALL THAT .. troops can NOT just pull out of Iraq.. we instigated the regime change ( a regime that DID have stability .. also created out ot fear) It would be morally corrupt to leave the innocent unguarded. Peace Keepers are needed. You have asked a question that will rile many up .. there's no easy solution to this

If sadam look like a saint to you I must conclude that you are using some far left glasses to look. I agree that Bush hasn't done a good job but a saint? You almost sounded credible until junk like that is thrown in.

I would also like to question where the 'facts' come from on the poll as most are simply driven by the agenda at hand - heck, I can post a 'poll' on a IIS server at home.

Pretty strange, isn't it? And remember the Kurds gassed by Saddam we've been told about. You would think they would be over there fighting the enemy, right? Instead, they're safely in the Northern corner-apparently the only Iraqis to benefit from the war. They have built luxury hotels, resorts, ski slopes! I'm not joking-see the Kurdistan development Corporation. Now, the Kurds want Kirkuk(oil-rich, of course) from the Turks.

"Fascism should rightly be called corporatism as it is a merger of state and corporate power--Benito Mussolini "Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day."

Iraqbodycount shows 67243 as the maximum. The 600,000 number is the ludicrous total that Lancet came up with last year. It bear absolutely no resemblance to reality.

Saddam killed anywhere from 300,000 to 2 million people, depending on who's counting.

Notwithstanding the fact that it's the terrorists doing most of the killing, George still has a ways to go.

Actually, if you were keen on facts, you'd find that IraqBodyCount has less than 70,000 Iraqi civilian deaths, and quite clearly attributes most of them to the terrorists and the insurgency. Yes, they've happened since the US invaded, but the vast majority of these deaths are perpetrated by the Sunnis.

FYI, the Sunnis were the people who supported Saddam, and they are killing other Iraqis because they want to re-enslave them, like it was under Saddam.

I believe the count is closer to the 700,00 mark... Yeah.. just goes to show the greatness of the 'LIBERATORS"... Aren't they such good people.

How can people continue fooling themselves into believing that the Iraqi people want to be occupied.. It's really pathetic and ignorant....

Has bush witnessed or has Bush ordered all the deaths? Order I think would be a more correct word.
