Statistics. Robin ran 5 1/3 mi on Sunday, 2 1/4 mi on Tuesday, and 3 1/2 mi on Friday. How far did she run during the week?

Now I am confused. I add all of these fractions up, right? I'm bad with fractions.
Check my work please
5 1/3 is 64/12 ; 2 1/4 is 27/12 ; 3 1/2 is 14/12
Now add them all up, it's 105/12 brought down is 35/4
Then to turn it into a proper fractionc I divide 35 by 4 which is 8. 35-32 =3
My answer is 8 3/4 miles. IS that correct? If not, can you let me know where I went wrong?
Thanks a bunch! :)

Using 12 as the lcd

5 1/3=5 4/12 + 2 1/4=2 3/12 + 3 1/2=3 6/12=
5 4/12+ 2 3/12+3 6/12=64/12+27/12+42/12=133/12=

When we convert 5 1/3 to an improper fraction you multiply 5 * 3 and then add 1... you would put that over 3, so we would convert these fractions as so:

5 1/3 = 16/3
2 1/4 = 9/4
3 1/2 = 7/2

Now we add:
(16/3) + (9/4) + (7/2)
we need to get a common denominator to add these we can use 12.
(16*4/3*4) + (9*3/4*3) + (7*6/2*6)
(64/12)+(27/12)+(42/12) <-- this is your mistake.. not 14/12

which we then get as: 133/12=11 1/12
