Yeah....that's a new scientific theory, and I'm not completely sold on it sorry..........

Although I do believe once you increase the size of a fat cell you are always at risk of gaining large amounts of weight.....(even after losing)
I also know if you tease these cells that when you go back to a regular diet the body stores the fats differently than that from a person who never had a weight problem....But this condition is cause by a person taking in more calories than the individual is burning over long periods of time...

Ha ha; genes don't exist in isolation. What you DO with your genetic inheritance is important too. People who are going to use the gene theory as an excuse are just missing the point.

there is a simple equation with weight.

equilibrium is maintained when input of energy equals output.

if you get heavier...youre taking in more than you burn off.

you have one of three choices

1: take in less[food], to re-establish balance

2: burn off more fuel [exercise], to re-establish balance

3: a mixture of 1&2 above

diets are useless unless, instead of being a means to an end...it is a permanent change of lifestyle....
because if it is a chore you are putting up with untill you reach your ideal weight, you will always revert to your old habits and your customary weight that accompanies those habits.

Genes are regulated and respond to the environment. Change your environment and you change the functioning of your genes.
