An abridged dictionary omits certain words that are either foreign, scientific or variations on other words. An unabridged dictionary contains all those words.

An unabridged dictionary is one that claims to be complete.
It contains ALL the words including the prefixes and suffixes for words.

a "bridged" version may only offer some detail regarding an entry (like only one meaning or reference), while a "unabridged" version will contain a complete description of the word, it's context, useage, ect.
