It's true, only high school grades count. You have the opportunity to correct yourself and these grades will never been seen by anyone.

But don't downplay the seriousness of this - Stanford is only for the best of the best students. All top universities are extremely competitive. You need to turn yourself around, take hard classes and succeed (not to mention volunteer work, leadership, community activity - examples of real leadership).

Luckily, you have one more year to make that transition before 9th grade, because if you start to have those grades in 9th and 10th grade, your chances for a school like Stanford are almost nil.

RELAX!! ;)
You still got plenty a time. Its the high school grades that really matter. One tip: Alot of kids start slacking off during the first two years and try to pick up for that slack during the last two years thinking those are the "important" years. But since you want to get into Stanford, start strong from the beginning amd maintain a high average as well as particpate in school activities and you'll have a chance!

Stanford only looks at 9-12th grades. Primarily 9-11th cuz you apply (and they look) during your senior year.

However, getting such bad grades now isn't a good sign. Unless you can turn things around dramatically, don't get your hopes up. Technically, since these grades don't count yet, you still have as much chance as anyone else.

Colleges don't look at any grades besides 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. So as long as you manage to get A's from now on, don't worry about it. But if you can't get A's in 7th grade, you might be in trouble. 7th is much easier than high school, and magnitudes easier than college, especially Stanford.

And in case you don't get time-honored into an Ivy League college for some very unusual reason, do no longer beat your self up, this is not the top of the international, there are nonetheless fantastically astonishing universities accessible with out the vast call which will probable grant the comparable education which you seek for.

Elementary school records are not given to colleges and universities, just high school records, SAT/ACT scores. If you are already underachieving and you keep up the current pattern B,C,D...notice you don't mention A's...then I'd so no you will not get in...Study more, visit with teachers for help, and try to over achieve academically...I'd be surprised if you are really giving in more than sixty percent with the academic record you mention in your question. Play less games, watch less television, read and write more, and knock out that homework and study more for exams complimented with good attendance where you listen and pay attention and don't goof off...I'm not trying to be mean but I am a direct person and a college professor so trust me nothing academically is given but earned. Good luck

Yes, because your 7th grade grades won't count directly, but you will need to buckle down. Your 9th grade grades WILL count, and if you don't do better in 8th grade, you will be at a disadvantage because you won't have the basics to do very well in the 9th grade.

don't worry -- everything up to high school is a wash, no one will ever look at those grades or even hear about them.

but it is a sign that you're heading towards a path that *would* count against you if you don't change your path...

the high school grades *are* important.
be sure that your final two grades of gradeschool prepare you as best as you can allow for those four years of high school.

Colleges only pay attention to 9-12th grade, so work harder and you might be able to do it.
