In my experience it is so much easier to hate. Not everyone has the will power to forgive and it takes a special someone to forgive. Indeed, I always forgive people which doesn't help
too much, but I think it projects myself to the world as having good character and judgement. In all, most people are so quickly to hate and hold grudges without hearing the other side of the story. that my beautiful friend, only shows the ignorance of the individual.

For me it is easier for me to forgive than to hate. I may not liked what the person had done but I could never hate them.

It's easier for me to forgive because "hating" takes a lot of energy.

It is said that the life is not long enough to hate. But if certain things are unforgivable... and if hatred ruins the lustre of life better pray God to take action and forget. But there are situations when neither you can forgive nor hate and if you are strong enough punish. But your question is which is easier... and forgiving is easier. It may bring repentance and the person may come to you and say "sorry".

It's easier to hate in the short term, but it gets pretty heavy after a while.
That's when you know it's time to forgive
