I recycle everything I can, but where I live, I am very limited on what I can recycle unless I drive about 75 miles away...and I can't afford that nor do I have a truck to haul it. I can only recycle cans and newspapers around here. I used to live where I had to sort and recycle everything, so this is difficult getting used to. Without a place to store things until I save up gas money to drive 75 miles, and without a vehicle big enough to make such a haul, my hands are tied and I have no choice in the matter.

One thing I am doing is periodically writing to the editor of my local newspaper, to the small recycling center we do have, to local politicians, and to schools to try to get more recycling opportunities in our area. I started by myself but have now recruited 23 others who are also writing such letters. Eventually, we know we will win and there will be facilities for recycling things besides cans and newspapers.

I heard that recycling is BS, and wastes time and money. I saw a documentary that stated not only does it cost more to break down these recyclables and remake them (except for aluminum) but it also pollutes the environment by having a separate division of trucks to pick the stuff up instead of just one and costs plenty to pay employees. Plus often times do to improper sorting or mixing of non-recyclables in causes batches to be contaminated, which are then sent to landfills anyway. The US recycling plan was originally created by a government official whose job had become obsolete so they were going to fire him. He wrote a report stating how America was running out of landfill space, which was not true, and how we would soon be swimming in garbage. He was made head of a department to fix this "problem" and got to keep his job. In actuality if we had a landfill filled to the brim that was the size of the largest city in the world in the grand scheme of things it would still be only a spec on the map. Landfills also harness the methane gas from garbage's decomposition to fuel neighboring cities. So personally I only recycle aluminum

Unfortunately, they don't have it where I live. When I lived in a different state and they had it, I always recycled.
