Have a working spark plug handy.
When the bike stops running, quick check for spark. Insert the spark plug in the spark plug cap and lay the threads of the plug against the engine. Try to start.
If there's no spark the coil may be bad.
Bad coils - when they heat up, they stop working. Then magically start working again when they cool down.

Another possibilty is that your gas tank vent (in the cap or other place) is plugged up. Kinda like putting your thumb on top of a straw full of milk, air has to get in for gas to get out. You can check this by running it with the gas cap off, be careful not to slosh gas on yourself or the hot machine, if it keeps running you found your problem.
