While downloading multiple things like free programs from websites my computer goes to the blue screen. Would this be caused by my motherboard or my processor?

Windows problem. Go through some safe mode starts, that will often fix it.

Check to see what you loaded last. Blue screens are caused by driver corruption in general, but can also be caused by virus or trojans.
Boot and hit the F8 key before you get to the windows screen,
select the last known good configuration, see what happens.
Also I would try running it Safe mode next.
You could also run a repair process by inserting the OS cd and selecting the Repair option.

A dreaded "Blue Screen Of Death", or BSOD, is caused by one piece of code trespassing on another piece of code's memory space. This causes an memory integrity error, which will cause Windows to BSOD, in order to protect itself.

Causes come from bad drivers, bad programs, corrupted files, and sometimes bad hardware.

Anytime you get the "Blue Screen of Death" it's a good idea to take the time to write down the exact error code given...then you can search the Microsoft Knowledge base for what the code means...whether it's a software issue, or a hardware failure...
Without the code(s) there's no way of knowing what the problem is...

I had this genuine difficulty with a WD demanding stress, it become a controversy with the sata cable, for some reason they're extremely tempremental as to the type of sata cable it may use. This sounds strange i understand as though a cable works it works. yet i attempted 2 much less costly cables on mine and have been given BSOD, then i spent some quid greater and acquired a moulded branded one and it works superb. i thinks (and this would be a risk) that this sort of WD ought to have a suited connection or it blunders.

It can be caused by many different pieces of hardware. You could also have device driver problems, a corrupt Windows installation, or malware.

Without a pretty detailed report on your computer it's too hard to determine what's causing it.

It could be anything from bad RAM to a driver conflict. It's impossible to troubleshoot a blue screen error without knowing exactly what error was displayed.

its the blue screen of death! more than likely it is your motherboard or a virus. your processor hardly ever affects your computer unless it is going bad and you will know because it will run hot and make noises. and then if it just stops, you won't be able to get your computer to run at all. good luck!

It could be some missing drivers or low disk space.
