an ABC extinguisher.
There are D ratings and even the purpleK as standards, but there are lots of other fire suppressants.

One that has class A, B, C, and D on it.
Classes of fires:
A is paper combustibles
B is flammable liquids.
C is electrical fires.
D is pretty rare -- metallic fires, like magnesium
Most of the time you can find or buy an ABC type extinguisher. Rarely would you need a D type at home.
