You could slap one of these in it for coolness factor, but top of the line is out of the question http://www.directron.com/winkitred.html They also have blue and green.

You want a better computer, you can build one for about 800.00. Check out the first link for more info.

I'm not sure you can mod a Compaq to be "cool."

It's still going to look like a Compaq.

Best bet is to take that stuff out of the case, and slap it into a new case that looks good, like an Antec Nine Hundred.

One problem you have is that your motherboard and CPU simply suck. There's nothing you can do about that except buy a new motherboard, new CPU, and new RAM.

If that sound card is an Audigy 1, it's not even that great. Audigy 2 would be worth keeping around.

...you might want to look into buying a whole new computer. Things can only get so old before "upgrading" requires replacing.

Buy the best video card you can afford (your system probably uses AGP)

Upgrade your RAM to 1GB

Upgrade your OS to Windows XP

That's not really "modding" which stands for modifications. That would probably entail you putting together a new computer from scratch (buying a case, motherboard, all the components, etc) to make it "cool"

The advice above will just make it better.

If i were you, i would just get windows xp, and if your motherboard has enough slots, double your RAM to 1 gig. Dont get Vista, unless all you want is a streamlined and very professional looking UI. Personally, Vista is a waste of money currently, and will be until they at least come out with service pack 2 and more programs are compatible with it.

You are limited by the motherboard...it can only support up to so much RAM and so fast of CPU, etc. I would suggest upgrading to Windows XP...2000 is pretty slow in comparison. Your RAM is probably ok, check your Available Physical Memory by going to Task Manager (CTRL+Shift+Esc) and clicking the Performance tab.
