I am. I don't mean to sound selfish or anything but when I hear about all these controversies and things happening in the media I could really care less. I think some things are blown way out of proportion. I think because at the end of the day there's nothing I can do about it and it doesn't really have an effect on my life or anything.

That's how us Americans are. We've become so numb to all the killings and bad things happening in the world and around us that unless it directly effects us, like you said, we really could care less. I think most people are like this, they just hate to admit it. It's not like everyone is walking around heartless, it's just that the media has made us numb to it. I use to want to cry when I watched the news and something terrible happened to someone. But, now I'm just like, "so how many ppl today have died on the news today?" I still get sad, it's just like I said, I'm beginning to become a little dumb to it all.

some things just make my jaw drop and then I keep it moving...i.e. Don Imus, man in pawn shop showing his toddler how to handle an AK-47, police beatings and so on. I have too many issues of my own right now to become overwhelmed with things in the media. Some people say its selfish to think this way but when I clear up some of my personal problems, then maybe I can wear the Superwoman cape proudly and take on the issues of the world.

oh im the same way. although sometimes i might feel bad for someone in a bad situation...i still dont really care.
on the other hand...if its something that is directly relating someone i personally knew thats different...
example : that tsunami in where it was....didnt affect me so didnt really care
9/11...i had a close friends who's dad was a firefighter up there and lost a lot of friends...since i was kidna related i def cared a lot.
