'Power surge on hub port. A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message'. The thing is, I have nothing connected to any of my USB ports. So what is wrong?? I am using an HP. Its driving me nuts, i click on it, the close the usb port that is highlighted, but the message pops up again. I just don't know how to solve it coz i have nothing connected:-(

This is a common problem for many people after installing SP2(service pack 2) on Windows XP. I "think" there was a hotfix released for it but you will need to search the microsoft site for it.

Your USB port(s) might have gone bad. Contact HP ( http://support.hp.com ). If it's still under warranty, they will replace your motherboard for no charge.

I don't exactly know what the hell happened with your computer, but try to re-install Windows. If that doesn't work, contact HP. (you probably downloaded a Virus or trojan horse)

Um, thats strange. attempt to repair the pc to the date that it become'nt doing that. attempt to restart the pc and if nonetheless the message maintains to pop up, then be beneficial to call microsoft, in case you have homestead windows XP, or the producer of the cpu. ;p desire this facilitates.

you prolly have dust in the usb socket, turn off your machine, blow it out, and reboot!
