I live in SW Ontario, so the weather isn't that great right now. I need to know when to plant the veggies, or if I should start then inside. We have big recycle bins to use as planters for beans, peas, lettuce ect. Any tips on how to grow them??

Give 'em a copy of the New York Times. It works well for New Yorkers.

Just kidding. For the veggies you mentioned, if you're planting from seed, I'd go ahead and start them now; they're all cold weather vegetables. If you're going for warmer clime stuff like tomatos, squash, melons, etc. you need to wait until at least the end of the month. If you want to hurry things up, get some warming cable from a nursery or catalog. I use some to keep stuff alive over the winter with pretty good results.

Containers and lots of them! Be sure to use organic potting soil. Yes start all indoors, then move containers out when you are able. If you do peas, beans you will still need to trellis them so be sure to add that to the container when putting it together, you could use bamboo with string tied to it in net form or get smaller premade ones. You could do lettuce in windowboxes, they are a cold weather veggie anyway. If at all possible use the roof of the building you are living in. This will not only feed you, but ease the cooling costs of the building in the summer.

I grow veggies every year in the city, a little bit of everything. I have just started off all my veggies this year from seed three days ago, and I am keeping them inside until they are ready to be transplanted outside.

Hi Roch, this site will give you all the tips you needed. It's www.squarefootgardening.com. The author is Mel Bartholomew. I borrowed his book from the library and couldn't wait to apply it myself. It's called "The All New Square Foot Gardening". I'm on the prairies and our weather is not ideal as yours. Good luck and have fun.

It appears like an astonishing concept - I in elementary words desire it really is not vandalised such truly some circumstances they offer up! Beehives contained in the park will be a pickle notwithstanding, youthful little ones will start up poking it and getting stung, then the moms will start up complaining. I do precisely like the idea, it really is totally positive.
