I guess God does work in mysterous ways-He turned in Don Imus's negative, false and arrogant comment into a good positive thing.

I say this because he abused "Freedom of speech," as many continue to do by going against what it was originally written for.

His "little" comment as some may call it has really turned into a "huge" issue.

I feel this is really the beggining of a change of something that has been going on to long and needs to stop.

My question is..Who is right? Don Imus and the likes of him..Or the ones that dropped him and those who fired him?

If you read about what Freedom of Speech means--Both sides cannot possibly be right.

A change in that Right is in the process of change. Many wrong "little" things has finnaly turned into that "big" enough issue that has been needed for years to finally put a stop this problem.

The thing people don't realize about the "Freedom of Speech" is that there are certain things people are not free to say. Were Imus to make the same statement about a more arbitrary group such as all female basketball players, then he would have been fine, but because he made his statement about a specific group of 10 individuals and because he is a public figure, there are grounds to treat his words as slander- harmful statement in a transitory form, especially speech. Slander is not Constitutional. Was it bad enough to warrant losing his job? Not my decision, but they would have had a case to sue him and CBS (his parent company with the pockets) over it, so dropping him was safest recourse for them.

I think the people that dropped him are right, yes there is 'Freedom of Speech," but it shouldn't be an unsult on others. In his profession, he should have been more careful with what he said. People will take offense.

He's not the only person that has "put their foot in their mouths," by what they said. Howard Cossell was one, and there have been others.

I hope I answered your question, and please no harm is intended by any means. We all have our views and rights, that I will give, but Mr. Imus needs to know that what he said was wrong.

The news isn't news anymore. It is just a bunch of gossip! I agree that what he said was wrong, but I think they media blew it out of proportion.

What if my 4 yr old daughter was playing with a black friend and she was to hear someone say the n word and then thought that was a friendly term. So she calls her friend that... then what? I agree with what a poster said before me about double standards.
It makes you wonder why a black person would care if a white person called them the n word, but turn around and say it themselves.

I am pretty sure all he said was something about nappy hair hoes... so does this mean he was talking about the black girls? Is that because black girls must have nappy hair. Are there white girls with nappy hair? Can a white girl be a hoe? Isn't there at least one white girl on that team?

sure- Freedom of speech ability you have the best to assert what you opt for, lie or not. The section human beings get caught up in, is that the liberty of speech does not mean you do not might desire to take duty for what you're saying. All of our strikes have effects, as they might desire to. I even have the best to tell you a lie- even if the implications of that lie are, I might desire to settle for. Therefor, you are able to desire to continually think of formerly you talk- you have the best to assert even if that's- yet do you opt for to take the autumn-out from it?

i look at it this way. u and me are not in spot lights. so we can say whatever we want. someone like him who has put him self in the spot light and the cross hairs needs to watch what he says or how he words it. there are alot of political talk show host that get away with alot. its all about how its worded. and he didn not do that right. not sayin hes wrong or he cant have freedom of speach. but when ur put in the public view u need to be careful. or u end up fried like him.

Imus still has Freedom of Speech...

He just can't use CBS or NBC equipment to broadcast it anymore.

I dont agree with what he said at all, but we have a right to free speech. If this right is infringed upon then where does freedom end and censorship begin. Our rights are slowly being devoured in the country.

what he said was wrong but shouldn't have been fired though, its alll about the money. and if everyone wants to be equal to everyone else than we should be able to say what we want. as in me being white, if blacks dont want me to say the n word (which i dont anyway) than they shouldnt say it either. double standard, thats why there will always be racism

I don't agree with what he said at all. I heard him years ago and I TURNED HIM OFF!!! Have we become so thin skinned that someone calling us names should result in someone losing their livelihood? I don't think so.
