Why do boys need physicals before they can play in grade school after school sports and girls don't?

I was just curious...

This is unique to your school or area and not true in all places. I suppose the outdated reasoning is that the boys will play rougher than the girls?

It would be very unusual not to require physicals of girls. Are you sure of this or are you just assuming it?

To be sure they are healthy and fit, no hernias, heart problems etc.
