Well, no. I think that love is love, the majority of the time. I think that your preferences in men should be more important than your parent's. It is your life, not theirs. YOU are the one with the relationship, not them. Don't let your parents live your life for you and control you.

What kind of bi-racial relationships? For instance: My parents didn't mind me dating a white guy (I'm black), but don't like my brother dating a white girl. I really think you should follow your heart. I know this is dissobeying your parents, but what if you stick to black guys and don't find anyone? What then? Perhaps, as a compromise, you could try dating black guys first (and really try). If your really can't find a compatible mate, then perhaps you should dicuss it with your parents and try to sway them over to your viewpoint. Practically all parents want their kids to be happy. If they really wish for this, they will put their feelings aside to ensure your future happiness. Hoped this helped. Sry, I don't know your parents, but this is the best advice I can give you. Good Luck.

Have you ever given thought to the fact that black people comprise about 12% of the population in this country and that whites account for about 73%? Mathematically and genetically, if the population intermingles, there won't be any black people in a few hundred years. Those genes will have been absorbed by the majority. Don't believe it? Look at the average black person today and then take a look at the average African. Vastly different physical characteristics even today. From your parent's standpoint I'd wager that they are simply trying to spare you the trauma of trying to live outside your own culture. One thing I've learned in my life is that my parents have been right more often than not.

If your parents dissaproved of eating ice cream, going to the park, wearing sunglasses, singing, leaving the house or reading a book would that mean you should stick to their rules?

Who's life is this exactly? Yours or theirs?

I wanted to date a black girl when I was in college back in the 70s, but I was certain that my father would disapprove. He would never have been rude to her, but that still was in my mind so I didn't. I love the wife I have now, but at times I wonder how different things would be now if I had dated her.

Go with your heart.

You should be able to date anyone you want. My mother was the same. She really liked black people but i'd be kicked out if i ever dated one. Sad really. We're all the same. I never did understand that. And despite what she said, i dated anyone i wanted, whatever colour.

It's up to you who you go out with. When I was a teenager, my mum did not approve of me going out with certain races but I still did it, it's your life and in a way it's good for you to experiment and learn from different races so that you can then make up your own mind.

Dont just date black men to please them, but dont just date men of other races to annoy them. Date who you care about and who cares about you to. If they would rather stick to their old fashioned, racist views than see you happy then just rise above it - they arent going to lose you over their small mindedness.

Good luck
