Minds cannot be changed, for better or worse, without the consent of the mind.
There has to be some openness in order for change to happen.

Fred Phelps and several of his family members will never stop spewing their hate, because they believe themselves to be right and the rest of us as wrong. If you can't question your own beliefs, you can't grow.

Has America changed? No! Therefore, you can't change the mind of a racist. You can try all you want until you turn blue in the face and Whites will never fess up to the fact that they are racist (I know that you weren't specifically speaking about Whites as racist, but they are the main perpetrators who act like they aren't when, in fact, they are).

A racist has to have a mind of their own first. Part of the problem is that people are so quick to jump on someone else's bandwagon and adopt their philosophy, that they never really reason things out for themselves. So in essence, I don't think trying to reason with a racist will help them to change because it wasn't reason that made them racist in the first place.

Not fully I don't think. Everyone is a racist at some point. Even if its just for a minute when someone makes you mad. You can teach them to accept, but they will always be a racist deep down.

I unfortunetly won't be able to bear in mind the place I study this quote, yet in staring at my very very own habit and that of buddies i've got self belief it to be genuine. The quote: "in case you think of it, you think it" meaning even if suggestions, thoughts, ideals come to our suggestions we've self belief them with out question, except we seize that concept, feeling or perception and venture it or somebody factors out a physically powerful counter and we are prepared to take heed to their perception gadget we under no circumstances question our very own technique. So, customarily i'd say "no" this is not achievable to alter a racists suggestions. in reality, my adventure has been if I tell somebody i think of they're racists or bigots they tell me they are not, then pass directly to justify why they aspects in the event that they did no longer understand what the defination of a racists or bigiot is.

It has happened before. Malcom X was as racist as they come, but after he went to Mecca and saw Muslims of all races worshiping together, he realized the stupidity of racism.

Unfortunately, I don't think that it happens very often.
