In triangle ABC, side AB is 31"(base of the ramp), side AC is 6.5" (height of the ramp) and angle A is a right angle. I need the measurement of side BC rounded to the nearest tenth and the measure of angles B and C.

Please explain how you arrived at your answer.

I'm not building the ramp for my own amusement, I am building it to work on the plumbing under my bathroom sink. There is only room for 31" length between the cabinet and the wall. I already have bruises on my ribs from trying to work without a ramp.

I don't care if you believe me or not. I am just hoping that some one will help remind me how to do this work. And the reason for explaining how you got it is so that I can make sure the measurements are correct, and learn how to do it for next time.

I'm still looking for help with the angles.

By the pythagorean theorum, side BC is 31.6741219294 or rounded to the nearest tenth, 31.7"

You get that by squaring both dimensions and adding them together, then taking the square root of that.

Tan B = 6.5/31
Angle B = 11°50'31.474015"
by subracting that angle from 90°
Angle A = 78°09'28.525985"

We all know that this is homework, so why even bother lying.

Asquared + b squared = c squared
31x31 + 6.5 = c squared
961 + 42.25 = c squared
1003.25 = c squared
the square root of 1003.25 = 31.67

Do you think that we are so stupid that we believe you are actually buildng a ramp with a 31 " base and a 6.5" height for your own amusement and you want us to show you OUR work ?? Do your own homework.

You should do you homework or your brothers homework yourself.
Use the side^2 + side^2 = hyp^2 formula

Good Luck

31^2 + 6.5^2 = x^2
961 + 42.25 = x^2
x = 31.7 inches (not much of a ramp)
