Annoyed. They were never really difficult for me, just annoying to write.

Actually, because English is not my first language I NEEDED spelling tests. I am too old to have had extra help in school, I was just expected to get on with it. Also, in my day bad spelling was severely punished in every public exam. The end result is that my spelling is better than most native speakers!
As for essay writing, I can't say I found it easy but despite what some others say it is an integral part of adult life in every job except dead-end ones. It just isn't called that any more; it is evaluating, or reporting, or estimating or whatever.

I didn't mind spelling tests.
I never liked writing essays, but generally did OK on them.

I'm not a strong speller, so I always dreading spelling tests, especially oral reviews. I can look at a word and tell if it is spelled wrong, but can't spell well out loud.
As for essays, I didn't mind them.

I was good at spelling and quite liked writing essays! (But only English Lit... not any other subject)
Now that I've been at Uni for 4 years, I've had enough of essays!! (And can't spell all that well anymore either!)

hated spelling tests because i was rubbish at them

I am at university and tire of all of the essays and papers. I have to take many labs and write many lab reports. So I just have to do it.

I LOVED SPELLING,EVEN WON A SCHOOL BEE BACK IN THE EARLY 60'S, I AM STILL A SUPER SPELLER AT 57,WRITING ESSAYS ,NOT MY FAVORITE.

I am an excellent speller, I got 100% like all the time. I also am a pretty good writer, so I didn't really mind.

I've seen no evidence that spelling is taught in schools, these days.
