There would be a removable pad in your filter, usually white or blue. Inside this pad (which is actually a bag of filber material) is some fine black material that looks like rocks. That is the carbon. Some filter bags or pads can be opened at the top for easy carbon removal or replacement. If that is the case simple dump out the carbon and replace it after you complete your treatment. If not, then cut the pad open and dump out the carbon. You will have to replace this pad after treatment. The store that sold you the filter will have replacement pads and they are not at all expensive.

You can report them to maybe animal control. Obviously a puppy mill needs to be shut down due to cruelty to animals. Maybe you could take the breeder to small claims court?? First of all, there is no such thing as a temporary vaccination for parvo. When a pup is vaccinated, it's good all year so the breeder telling you that makes no sense. Did you see proof of any shot records? Although unlikely, it is still possible for a puppy to get the virus even after being vaccinated. Anytime you buy a puppy, you always take a risk as to whether the pup is healthy. It's sad that people lie just to sell a puppy. Maybe it's a good thing because who knows where this pup would be if you wouldn't have bought him? I've been through the same thing with a puppy. Check out your option for suing the breeder. Good luck
