tractor and straight truck spring brakes will come on fully when air pressure drops to a rang of 20 to 45 psi (typically 20 to 30). do not wait for the brakes to come on automatically. when the low air pressure warning light and buzzer first come on, bring the vehicle to a safe stop yadda yadda yadda... looks like the truck driver was right. but his trucks maxi should pop out a little sooner. 20 is a bit too low for most shop standards. ive noticed most pop out at 35.

alarm sounds at 60 psi
brakes engage at 20 psi
i beleive manuals state engaging at 20-45 lbs.
mine always come on at 20
