My cat can tell me more with one twitch of his tail than most humans can impart with a monologue. But then there are times when it seems to disconnect from his brain and goes all crazy. That might be the cat-nip, I'm just not sure. lol

Speaking of a tail with a mind of its own...my cat caught the tip of his tail on fire a few weeks ago! He was laying on the arm of the sofa and a lit candle was on the side table. I walked into the room to see the tip of his tail laying on the votive candle holder and small flames taking hold of his tail! I nearly had a heart attack and he didn't notice a thing. I put out his tail and gave him lots of lovin'.
Needless to say, even if I go to the kitchen for a minute, I blow out the candles or take the cats with me.

One of my favorite cats of the past, Hoover, aka Hoodoo, had this amazingly long tail, and he could use it to pick things off a table...and he'd hit you with it when he wanted attention. And then he ALWAYS seemed surprised at what it'd done! Hoover was HUGE - he was about 3 feet long, and so was his tail. When he sat around the house, he really did.

And that is one of their means of expressing themselves. Slow tail is contented, Fast is anger or nervous

a cats tail movement is the way he communicates with us... like if it gets puffy, he's nervous or scared or unsure
