California is often misunderstood by the rest of the nation. Contrary to popular myth, much of California is not "Liberal". (The GOP held its convention here in the '90s; Orange County is quite Conservative; many Republican Governors; Ronald Reagan!)
However, the most powerful lobby in California is the Prison Guards. While we were closing schools (from lack of funds--due to Enron), we continued to build prisons. Arnold is talking about building even more.
This, in addition to the "3 strikes" laws and mandatory minimum sentencing, has resulted in the State of California having more inmates than any other NATION than China.
I've never heard it called the "Nazi State", but it is an example, at least in this respect, of the money and influence peddling that is all too common in American politics.

Where did you go in California? TO some out of the way hick town? I've been here my whole life (53 years) & we are anything but Nazi. Our Governor is referred to as a Nazi, which is completely UNTRUE. He was born in Austria. He's cleaning up our state after years of neglect by other elected officials who squandered money & made poor decisions. That "local" was probably a tweaker who got busted & doesn't like it because they can't get away with their crap any more. Our state & the people in it have had it with the criminal element of society. Our Law Enforcement Agencies listen to people & respond as effectively as they can. Don't come here & try to get away with stupid & illegal things. Someone is always watching & they WILL turn you in!

A Nazi state?
We don't have state censorship bureaus, or a secret police. Nor are there large numbers of men who will break into and destroy property of any "enemies of the state" There is not "Enabling" acts that permit the head of state to rule by decree.
Please. To liken an organization or government to Nazi Germany is to compare them with a frighteningly effective, racist, brutal totalitarian state, bent on world conquest and based on the idolation of a single leader.
I live in California, and while there are things to be improved, it has no similarities to that dark period in modern German history.

You thoroughly failed the attempt: Did you examine SB 1070? Arizona treats it is undocumented workers and voters with the top same appreciate as the different citizen interior the state. What Arizona can now not tolerate is the ten's of tens of millions a year to help illegals that tension the state welfare, criminal and scientific centers designed to augment the existence of tax paying Arizonans (including illegals that artwork and pay taxes with the aid of payroll, purchases etc;). Now I ask you: How might you do away with the criminal ingredient from 50,000 unlawful border crossers a month, which by using the way is escalating because of the certainty that the criminals (and now terrorist) be attentive to the border is porous and pass away extensive gaps for those human beings to hold their specific form of crime to the US in the process the State of Arizona? only as a ingredient observe those criminal illegals are additionally liable for bringing new child intercourse commerce, rape, homicide, drug wars, homestead invasions, theft, scams and fantastically much something unlawful you are able to think of of, not purely to Arizona yet 40 9 different states! whats up i'm listening! to boot complaining what's your thought??

You are scared because another dimwit told you that California is a Nazi State. For all you know the dimwit who told you that may never have been anywhere but California.
Better yet, if it is so bad, why doesn't he leave, and go to some "paradise" like mobilhoma.
The only reason I don't live in California is that I can't afford to on my pension.

I have lived here most of my life. This is not a rough state on you as far as law enforcement goes. That person may have had a bad experience here, but that is certainly not the type of police officers that we have here. Police have pretty much the same power state to state. The juries here are the easiest in the country. Texas is a rough place as far as juries goes. But Ca. is where the Twinkie defense was invented.

Socialist wackos!
Our Governor & legislature are wackos! They are trying to force people to "fix" their pets, only have certain types of light bulbs, give health insurance to all illegals and call it a fee instead of a tax so that the voters don't have to approve it.
"One bill Cedillo" is trying for the 8th time to give drivers licenses to illegals. The voters don't want it but he keeps trying.
The police don't have power in some areas. They can't ask immigration stutus due to "Special Order 40." The Mexican gangs are rampent in some areas and they can do nothing about it.
It is very expensive here. People complain that their gas is closing in on $3 - BIG DEAL, we have been over $3 for a long time. Costco is at $3.20/gallon.
Inspite of all this, I like California!

I think they were just exaggerating the fact that there are alot of stupid laws here. In my DUIP Class I've heard alot of people say, "I came to Califonia on VACATION and left on PROBATION" oddly enough alot of them were from out of state thinking that getting a DUI is no big deal. In California DUI's give the state GREAT revenue, and its a huge deal. If you drink don't drive and if you drive don't drink.
