I've had it at the dealership for 5 weeks. They can't figure out why the headlight won't work. Apparently the wiring diagram is long lost for this bike and yamaha doesn't sell it anymore? Anyone know where to find it online without buying the entire clymers guide? I brought it to the dealership hoping to get it fixed and tuned up without spending an extra $60 and giving the book to the dealer :-P

There's a relay in there that's supposed to turn the high beam on if the low beam burns out. They go bad and the chimps at the dealers never know how to troubleshoot them.

Check the handlebar switch.
Remove the headlight and make note as to the wire colors of the headlight bulb.
Open the handlebar switch to find what color wire, power's those wires. That wire should have battery voltage when the key is on.
Then check that wire at the handlebar switch connector.
Then check that wire at the fuse box.
Then check the fuse.
Yamahas of that era had a stupid relay called "reserved lighting unit". Every time they'd go bad, mechanics not familiar with them, would go nuts trying to figure out the problem LOL
Tell your mechanic to locate it and bypass it, for a quick test.
