common sense is instinct and wisdom is a tool that works with knowledge. Wisdom allows us to adjust our knowledge to fit our surroundings.

Common Sense: don't poke yourself in the eye with a stick. Wisdom: doing so will cause great pain, loss of eyesight, and possibly huge medical bills.

Common Sense: pay your bills on time.
Wisdom: not doing so will adversely affect my credit, cause the bill collector to hound me for payment, cause possible judgements and wage garnishments, and make my life much more difficult.

Common Sense: don't breath in while under water without scuba gear.
Wisdom: you will die if you do.

Almost like Commons sense is the do/don't and Wisdom is the knowing the reason why you should or shouldn't. Hey, it's just a thought.

yes, there is great difference between the two.

basically, all of us already have common sense. it is having a good sense of the obvious. it can be merely improved through good and better exercise of reasoning.

wisdom on the other hand is still to be acquired by anyone. it is usually more dependent on the personality of the person and it may even be a choice wether to acquire wisdom or not. it is more rational in a way. the wisdom of a person on the otherhand can not only be improved through good rationalizing but also through acquiring more knowledge and lessons from experiences. age is a great factor for wisdom.

Wisdom is above and beyond common sense. Common sense is something that most people have or at least should have - thats why its called 'common'. Wisdom is what comes with learning, knowledge and experience.

Common sense is knowing the most simple and practical way to resolve a problem.

Wisdom is knowing others must find their own answers even when they are totally lacking in common sense.

Common sense is the ability that your brain has to figure something out, something that is obvious, in other words it's how you know the answer to very simple things that require little thought. Wisdom is related to knowledge. Knowledge being information that you have retained, and wisdom is the ability to use knowledge properly.

I'd say that common sense is just something you'd expect everyone to know, while wisdom is something that comes from a lot of thought and experience.

Common sense is guided by our intellect and intellect is the knowledge gained out of books and experiences. It is nowhere related to wisdom. As we proceed on the journey of life we are guided by two factors... our intellect (aka Buddhi in Hinduism) and the wisdom directly gained from God Almighty.

Wisdom (aka Jnana in Hinduism) is gained by two means... through the sacred scriptures available on Mother Earth and the power of Shruti (through which every human being can directly invoke wisdom from the reservoir of mind plus). Those who invoke wisdom directly through Shruti... need not read anything... not even the sacred scriptures! The wisdom flows to them as words of God... in the manner as flows the songs from a radio station to an individual transistor or a radio.

In the journey of life we require both... the common sense and the wisdom! Common sense is necessary in day-to-day affairs of life. If we desire to travel the spiritual path... wisdom is necessitated. In the normal affairs of life... gaining wisdom is not an essential must! The reason why most people take the simpler religious path! More on wisdom jnana -
