i guess it depends on how young they are. my 11 mo. old brother eats french fries, but we break them up into small swallowable pieces since he only has one tooth.

It depends on how old the baby is. Babie r us and Target also have 'Baby Safe Feeders' you can buy. It has a mesh bag attached to a handle and you can put anything from french fries to fruit in it. The baby can get the flavor of the food without the choking hazard.

Yes, and why are you worried about the pointed corners? Don't worry about the salt either. I wouldn't feed the kid frenchfries all the time.

My daughter when she was four months old, loved olive garden breadsticks. The first time we were eating them, she glared at us until we gave her one. Then she went to town. There were more crumbs around her then actually went into her belly.

Yes babies can digest solid foods. If they could't my children wouldnt' have gained weight past 6 months because they were all on solids by then, with only milk as a supplement. They ate cuisinarted food that I had made. The only thing I had trouble with was rice and that was because too much rice hurts their butts(it soaks up water)

How old is the baby?
It would be safe as long as the child is suitable weened.
I think the question should be - "should I feed my baby french fries?"
My answer then would definitely be no! Way too much fat and salt for a small pallet to handle. One parental role is to introduce children to healthy eating and ensure they have a balanced diet.
I would avoid as much as possible.

It's not neccesarily a choking hazard, but a baby's likes and dislikes for life are heavily influenced by the first few years. More and more Americans are obese every year, in large part because of unhealthy eating habits. Feed your baby fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and other healthy food the first few years and he will probably enjoy healthy food his whole life. Feeding your baby junk food sets him up for a lifetime of unhealthy eathing and obesity-related problems.

No, it's not safe unless the child is at least a year old & has a few teeth. A baby could choke on a fry, as it gets mushy in their mouths. My sons never ate fries until they were two y/o. (my preference)

Babies aren't able to digest solid food for quite a while whilst they're developing. Give the poor little mite proper food and stop trying to give it heart trouble by feeding it McDonalds food before it's out of it's cot!

if the baby is over 4months that at this age its rice cearl you start with then you begin adding different types of food within 4-5 days apart so you know if she/he develops a allergy to that food. and is hungry for table food its ok but don't you think something else would be a healthier choice and if its potatoes you want to give do mashed.

with childhood obesity at an all time high why would you want to start your child off to a lifetime of health problems - find something healthy to feed your child. If they do not eat junk food they will not develop a taste for it.
