Hi. I have an appointment to have a laser eye operation in about one week. Can canceling the appointment require me to pay costs? I have not signed anything so far.

(I live in europe)

They didn't mention cancelation fees when I made the appointment. I just got a letter today saying that if I cancelled there would be costs.

Depends entirely on the policy of the office you go to to have it done... In some cases yes and some no.

It depends on whether they clearly stated there would be a cancellation fee. You don't have to sign something to have a legal contract. If they clearly stated, or sent you an information package that stated, there was a cancellation fee then you will have to pay.

However, I think the laser eye surgeries probably have cancellations all the time, and they are usually pretty busy, so maybe you should just ask them. There probably is not a fee.

It shouldn't cost you anything to cancel the appointment. But the best people to ask would be the office where your appointment it.

Why would you want to cancel anyway? Don't you want to improve your vision?
