No, I do not think it is the best song on earth. I think there are much better songs from the Classical music period that will easily prove to be more longstanding than Purple Rain. I think if you were to go 100 years into the future, people would still be listening to Beethoven's 5th much more than people listening to Purple Rain. I think there are even rock songs that will be longer lasting than Purple Rain.

I used to think so. I used to be a huge, huge, Prince fan during the Purple Rain Era. I really liked "When Doves Cry" also. I have the Purple Rain CD. When the movie came out, I went to see it 7 times. I was going through some kind of phase I guess. I was 19 years old then.

Not the best song on Earth, but definitely better than that crap song Glamorous, and better than half the 'music' they play on the radio nowadays.

its a vey good song..many Prince fans say it was the greatest song ever written.but i dont think its exactly the best song on earth...there are many better songs,to me,out there..
