CNN keeps saying that hip hop culture is to blame, they show clips of several rap videos with women in bikinis. Saying it's raps fault. Two of the videos are by Nellie. Tip Drill - a song about strippers, and Pimp Juice - ironically, objectionable as those songs may be, neither of them contain the word "ho" or "nappy head" even once.
In fact, it dawned on me that most of the time the word ho is in a rap song it is referring to other dudes.
I can only think of a couple rap songs that even use the word ho. and those songs are specifically about ho's; not referring to all women that way.
Can you name a rap song were all women are referred to as hos?

I found 126 instances of the word ho.
Snoop, Too Short, Nellie, and T Pac are the biggest offenders.

I can name lots of songs with the word ho in it but I don't understand how people can compare the two. I've been listening to Rap my entire life (18 years). I have never heard a rapper call me or anyone that I know a ho, ****, whore or any other derogatory term. If it's something bad people always bring up Rap but forget everything else like movies and t.v shows. U can't just pick on one thing.
In I "make it rain on them HOES" he's not referring to women at all he's actually referring to men.

There are definitely songs with the word hoe in it. Yeah, Area Codes by Ludacris is one. 2Pac- All About You. But, I have never heard a song referring to ALL women in that way.
I find it quite interesting that they are trying to use music as an excuse. Don Imus is a grown as$ man. He shouldn't be easily influenced by some songs which I seriously DOUBT he listens to anyway.
Furthermore... music is a form of entertainment. PERIOD. It should not be looked at as a guideline as to how to live your life.

I think there is a problem on both sides, in rap/hip hop culture and the news media's reporting.
What I would like you to consider is: Does the current trends in music/culture uplift and enlighten the community as a whole or does it degrade and divide?
There is a very good documentary film I suggest you see. It may help you answer the question.
