There like pickups and SUVs People don't need them but idiots still keep buying them. The best part is owners of these and Harley's think were jealous of them . If only they knew better.

Actually, Boomers covers kids born from the 1940s through the 1960s, so there's still a batch of later boomers in their mid-40's, a long way from the wheelchair yet!

I believe the Harley will remain popular, as long as there are middle-age folks who get the jones to go out and see the world on two wheels for the first time.

I think that at some point soon, the 'Harley Craze' will taper off, availability and price will get back to more normal rates, but there will always be a core group looking to scratch an itch they feel only Harley can fill.

The investment crowd does feel that Harley is not as solid an option now as it was 5 years ago. Their stock rating has been downgraded a few times recently.

HARLEY CRAZE! Are you kidding me? Harley Davidson has been around since 1903. Every year more and more Harley's are sold. Harley is not a fad, sport bikes are fads they will disappear long before Harley Davidson. Sport bikes are popular nowadays with girls, this will soon stop. I'm a "boomer" and I plan on riding my Harley until I die. Harley is popular with all generations. If someone continues to ride a motorcycle eventually they will end up on a Harley. You might ride a sport bike now, but if you continue to ride up and into your 30's you will down at your local Harley Dealership looking for your next bike.

You do realize that Harley has been around for more than 100 years...it's not some new fad, right? Try going to your local bike night sometime and seeing how many you'll find...or bike week in Daytona or Myrtle Beach. My 23 y.o. cousin has one...his friends are jealous because they can't afford it, he just lucked into his. My boyfriend thinks he may get one once he's much older (right now he's late 30s) so for the time being, I have to be satisfied riding on the back of a crotch rocket.

You sound like another one of those jealous crotch rocket jockeys. Be glad that Harley is out there, so you'll have something to complain about. Too much money, too much chrome...whatever...
Let's see, Harley's have been around since 1910 or there abouts....how long has Honda? And, when you look at the other bikes from a distance, aren't they ALL starting to look like Harley's? If they are so terrible, why does everyone want one, even the designers of the Honda's and Yamahas and Suzuki's?

Harley Davidson will change its product line as the market changes, but I don't anticipate them making wheelchairs. They're doing a brisk business in their recent Police Specials, despite the policemen being young and vigorous and not particulary aged; and despite the competition from Kawasaki, BMW, and now even Honda.

I'm betting on additions to the Buell line, to compete more directly with street bikes made by Suzuki and the others.

Naw, not wheelchairs ... trikes.
These Harley folks (most of them nowadays) only ride around town. If they have to go more than 50 miles, they trailer their bikes, like kids pulling a wooden horsey on a string.
Ignore the idiots who think that just because they shelled out 18-large for their penile extension they get to brag like they were Brando or something. Heck, most of them don't even realize that the Wild One rode a Triumph!
I believe we'll see a big growth in the trike market, as even tooling from the campground to the snack bar becomes too much for the geezes.

When you grow up, and become a man, You will recognize that grabbing a hard-vibrating older harley, that simply beats your butt sore in seven minutes, and getting in shape to ride it for at least an hour or more is a physically demanding and rewarding experience, you will have answered your own question. Untill then,, you will just be another rider that thinks we are nuts and don't really understand speed and scooters.

Seems to me that so many people who do not ride harleys are always putting them down or making jokes about them. it must be jealousy. i never even think about why people ride other kinds of bikes or if they will always ride them but harleys are always talked about. ride what you want and don't worry about the bikes others are riding. if you don't like a harley don't get one.

Hmmm, let's see "boomers" is defined as the people born after WWII- 1941 - 1945.
Harley-Davidson has been around since 1903- looks like YOU need to learn some basic math.
Rest assured, H-D WILL be around for a long time to come. Some people still take pride in being American!
Others are simply too ignorant to have ANY pride!

i'll answer this 1 with another.....if this is just a 'craze' as u put it, then why is this still going on extremely strong? think about it; hd started selling bikes way back in 1903. it's now 2007, making the company itself 104 years old.

if anything is a craze, it's crotch rockets. they havent been around anywhere near as long as any cruiser. i'd be betting rockets have only been around for roughly 25 or 30 years. so who has the longevity?

back in the 'boomer' days, there wasnt any honda/kawa/suzuki.....at least not for awhile after ww2....b-29's pretty much flattened japan's industry, so it took em about 20 years to get around to them.

u ride ur's....i'll ride mine. u might get to point b alot quicker, but yanno what....while ur strechin yer legs to get the cramps out, i'll pass ya by on my 'ancient' sportster in comfort.
