My BF does not like animals indoors. Grew up pet free.

He keeps telling me its completely weird that I let the cats go in the bathroom with me in the morning. He thinks it is wrong for them to be there when I shower.

I think it is crazy to be bothered by this. I asked if he would feel the same about a goldfish and he said yes. That is plain weird to have an animal in there with you.

They like to be in whatever room I am in...I don't see why it is a problem. They like the steam in the room when the shower is on too.....

He is making me feel like a freak, but I think it is odd that it bothers him???

One of my cats likes to sleep in the bathroom sink. If I forget to close the door at night he freaks out too --- thinks the cat is dirty? My cats are indoor only and super clean.

You sound like one funny chick. I love animal's, cat's especially. Nothing wrong with havin a cat in your bathroom aslong as you don't use it to dry yourself with!!!

Indoor cats usually won't come when called when they escape outside, no matter how much they love their owners. And often they don't go too far. I'm assuming the cat and dog are good friends? If just so-so, you might want to leave the dog at home the next time you walk around. Is it the same time of year as last time she ran? She might have climbed into the engine to get warm. If she would do that again, it might have been someone else's car. You might ask your neighbors if they can pop their hoods and take a look. I wouldn't leave the dog outside. The hair was a good idea, though. While searching, I highly recommend you get a screen for that window. And if you get her back, get her microchipped in case this happens again somehow. I'm so sorry she has gone missing and wish you the best of luck.

I don't think it's too odd, but I don't allow the dog and cat with me in the bathroom. That's 'me' time. However, when I lived by myself with just my cat, she was always pissed when I closed the door (the only time I did was when I showered). I'd get out of the shower and there'd be her little paws under the door, grabbing for purchase. If I'm just in there doing makeup or hair or brushing my teeth the dog now likes to hang out with me (the two animals are jealous of each other so where one is there other will glare from afar). One thing my boyfriend and I don't quite agree on is that he doesn't see a problem with the dog drinking out of the toilet - I do, especially since the dog is a licker...she licks everything, including blankets, pillows, couches, etc.

There is nothing wrong with your cat being in the bathroom. Now when I shower I close the door but if I'm using the potty I keep the door open and my cat likes to lay on my feet. My boyfriend was the same way. He grew up with no pets at all so it's all new to him. He's used to it now. But cats and dogs aren't unsanitary animals at all. Tell your boyfriend my cat even drinks out of the toilet (which is not uncommon), lol.

Well I know where you are coming from, I have 6 dogs and one cat myself. Animal lovers love their pets and feel like they are just as much part of a family as a human would be. But someone who didn't grow up with animals, may not share that feeling. Maybe in time, the more he is with your babies, he will start to feel that same acceptance that we all do. But for now, just try to make him comfortable and compromise. Maybe don't let the cat sleep in the sink, but still let them follow you into whatever room you are in. Hope he comes around for you.

there is a lot of reasons why cats hang out in the bathroom-mine does it all the time.
if you are getting ready for work they sense that you are leaving and perhaps want the very last of your attention before you go.
cats also love to drink the water from faucets/tubs something about the running water and the oxygen it picks up they just adore.
Sleeping in the tub or sink-normal! they love how the smooth and cool porcelain feels to them!
and as a side note- give the bf some time to adjust

Cats will be cats--if they want to be in the bathroom, there's nothing wrong with that. Someone that grew up without pets probably doesn't consciously realize that animals are animals, and don't have the same concerns over privacy or nakedness that humans do. (I find it very disconcerting to have a cat jump up on the bed during sex, though. Oy..I don't care who you are, that's just wrong!!)

You're free to do what you want, and he's free to do as he wants. If he doesn't want the cats in while he showers, he's free to kick the cats out of the bathroom. But criticizing you for allowing them in is a bit controlling in my opinion.

Your BF obviously hasn't had a close pet of his own. Our dogs do the same thing. When we have guests I make sure to use the master bath so my dog doesn't push the door open. She has figured out how to get the door open and go in and out. They only do this with my husband and me. Don't worry - you aren't a freak. But maybe your boyfriend is jealous or feels a little alienated by your cats.
The only time our dogs creep me out is when they come in and watch us when we are in bed. . .

Your BF would REALLY hate our kittens then. Not only do they LOVE to be in the bathroom with you, they actually LIKE to put their feet in your bath water. In fact, if the bathroom door get closed and they are not in there with you, they yowl until someone opens the door. Cats and other pets become part of your family and like to be treated as such.
Your BF has issues, indoor cats are not THAT dirty (unless her name is Magyk and she has been digging in the banana tree plant...again). She is probably cleaner then he is.
Dump the BF and look for one who is more pet friendly. Don't let him make you choose between him and your loving pets. Your pets would not understand why they are suddenly getting the "boot".

I would lose the friend, and stick with the cat. It is completely normal for a pet to want to be with you as much as possible. My cat is totally fascinated with running water even though he doesn't want to get in it. He feels rejected when I close a door on him, and cries until I open it. Your friend should respect your feelings, and get over it!
