Bones are made up of cells called osteocytes. These cells grow and divide like the rest of the cells of the body. otherwise, imagine if u grow but ur bones do not grow, what wud it be like?
The synthesis of our blood cells also take place in the bone marrow.
And the commonest example, if there is a fracture, the bones heal!!!

I agree with the vet. First of all, all your bones are renewed every 10 years or so. There are changes in the amount of cortical thickness depending on the stress imposed on a particular bone and there is an increase in the thickness where the stress is greatest. There are bone cells (osteoclast and osteoblasts) that remodel the bone based on this stress. There is a dynamic level of mineralization taking place constantly (except when you are old but that's more because of changes in hormone levels). There is also the growth of bones before and during puberty.

I could include the hematopoesis that occurs but that is really a different organ system that happens to take place inside certain bones.

They grow and change shape during the life of an individual. By doing certain kinds of studies, you can show that the material in a bone is constantly being deposited and replaced.

Bones grow as you grow bigger.
Bones can deteriorate as you age.
