say i want to connect to google.com but my school blocks the port 23. it will let me use firefox, and let me ping myself, however i cannot ping anything else.. any suggestions? i'm not out to cause mischeif, just exploring and expanding my knowledge.

I'd recommend taking some computer courses in school.

You'll be able to learn the relatively simple workings of bypassing a firewall.

Until then, it's not your computer, and the owner of the computer doesn't want you to access the net.

The internet port is 80, secure port (https pages) is 443. 23 is the telnet port, nobody leaves this open anymore as it is totally insecure. Most places turn of ping responses for their own protection. Each port will only respond to it's recognised request type.

server may have closed access from port 80th...since ur limited user...but u can check your own IP's open ports and try to go thru that PORT.
