The oil drips down into the oil pan at the bottommost part of the engine. When you take the valve covers off things will be a little oily but nothing will spill out.

Just dont take the valve covers off upside down. (Joke).
Wait til it cools, then it should be safe to take off the valve covers and take a peek around in there. DIY Car enthusiasts do it all the time.

no, the oil lays down in the oil pan.it better not come out of the valve covers.if it does,then the drain holes are clogged up.

is it overhead cam or valve not to bad either way
