I just bought a new external samsung 100gb HDD abt 7hrs back. The guy at the store formatted it n everything. The HDD is inside a A1 Pro casing n is connected to my computer through a USB2.0 cable.

although the light on the HDD is on, (not blinking) green in color, my computer is not detecting the External HDD.

i have gone to control panel n gone to device manager, tried to detect changes in my computer, tried installing new hardware, and even plugged into all 3 of my USB ports in my computer.. none of the above seems to help..

please help me!!

If you have just bought then you will have guarantee period with that HDD right? go back to shop tell them your problem ask them to solve and they will do.

Don't ask here go back to shop save time.

Open system properties by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon and selecting properties. From there select the hardware tab then select the "Device Manager" button. In the device manager window look and see if any devices are listed that have yellow question marks. Most likey you need to install/reinstall the drivers for the USB Root Hub.

Try to find a working USB port by plugging a different device into one of them. (A printer might work).

Is your system pre-fab (for example a Dell or HP) or assembled by you or someone you know?

There are 2 issues that would nicely be incorrect. first of all it might nicely be the usb port. attempt plugging something else in the port and word if the gadget works if it doesn't you'll favor to interchange the port. the different option is the hardchronic has failed and also you desire a clean one and if it really is the case the options is lost except you want to pay for records fix which isn't less expensive.

Are you able to plug in other USB devices into your computer?

Does your computer support USB 2.0?
