Another glittering example of colossal ignorance, you are.

WW1, WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, Persian Gulf War, GWOT/Afghanistan, GWOT/Iraq.

Good fighters all.

Yes, Canadians have fought for Britain for more than a century and a half. Further, the Canadians fought in WWII and Canada. They act as peacekeepers around the world for the UN.

The ethnic background of Canada closely mirrors that of the US. They were originally a handful of French and British colonies that were united in the 1800s. The French of Quebec (Quebecois) distrust the English-speaking Canadians and have been attempting succession for years. They haven't accomplished that just yet. The Native people of Canada are referred to as The First Nations.

In the mid-1800s to early-1900s, as part of the British Commonwealth, there was a great push to populate the country (which is the #2 country by land area, but way down the list in population density....waaaaaaayyyyyy down the list). They made significant offers to Europeans from "desirable countries" to come to Canada. "Desirable" was a code word for "Protestant". They didn't have a great desire to import a new Catholic problem...they had enough of one with the Quebecois.

They are there because it is their country, and a very beautiful country at that.

Oh, yeah, they've fought and fought well. Some Canadians were with the British--because they were British (Quebecers probably disputing, they were French)--against the revolting American colonies when the United States became independent. There were Canadians in WWI and WWII. The Canadians took quite a beating on D-Day as part of the Allied invasion of Normandy. (Luck of the draw bad positioning, their assigned path took them to smack in the middle of a very strong German force--a tough battle and the Canadians fought well)

The people of Canada have three primary sources from its founding: Native American people, French colonists, and British colonists. During the US Revolution, Canada was not interested, but they did take in loyal British colonists (commonly called Torries) fleeing the revolutionaries. During and shortly before the US Civil War, Canada was a refugee haven, first for escaped slaves (no slavery in Canada) and draft-dodgers mostly from the Northern US states. In more recent years, a wider range of immigrants have flooded the country so things are different in places like Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto. Much of that is because of Canada's position in the British Commonwealth, but mostly because it has a very strong industrial economy.

Back to wars, the Canadians are common peacekeeping participants. In the recent fight that Israel had with Hamas in Lebanon, it was a Canadian who called Israel on a cell phone to tell them that Hamas rocket launchers were being operated directly adjacent to their lookout post (the Canadians were observers). In that same war, the rest of the world gave Israel publicity grief because that same Canadian died when Israel put a bomb down to stop that rocket launcher from shooting at Israeli cities.

They are good and capable people doing the best they possibly can to make a dangerous world a little less dangerous.

My grandfather fought in the British Army in World War 2. He served in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Although he wasn't one for war stories, he did say the Canadians were some of the best fighters he'd ever seen.
Everytime you watch a Hollywood movie that suggests only the USA fought, and you believe it, then you dishonour the memory of the tens of thousands of soldiers from ALL of the other Allied countries who died.
Respect to the USA, though. They did the right thing.

Yes Canadians have fought in several wars. The main point is we fought in defensive wars, not offensive wars.

We fought in the War of 1812 to defend ourselves from the Americans.

We fought in the Boer war to defend British territory in Africa.

We fought in WWI to defend Canada from Germany. In fact we were fighting in 1914, whereas the Americans waited until 1918.

We fought in WW2 to defend England and Canada from Germany. In fact while the Americans were hiding in fear in 1940 (they didn't declare war until attacked by Japan in 1941) and England was fighting for her life, 140 RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) pilots put their life on the line for King and country.

We fought in Korea to prevent the invasion of South Korea by North Korea.

We created the concept of peacekeeping by the UN and have contributed to peacekeeping actions in numerous countries including the Golan Heights, Cyprus, and Bosnia.

The Suez Canal crisis was averted by our Embassador in the UN.

We are a proud and noble people dedicated to the idea of Peace, Order and Good Government. Our goals are to the peaceful co-existance of nations. Negotiate first. Fight later.

We are here because we have always successfully defended our nation from external attacks. We have the best trained armed forces in the world. I feel safe knowing that we have our National Defence forces in place. We are here because we listen first negotiate to the benefit our our interests when possible, fight when it isn't.

because Canada confederated as a rustic in 1867, they fought interior the Boer conflict of South Africa, WW1, WW2, The Korean conflict, (some Canadians volunteered to combat in Vietnam yet Canada itself in no way joined that conflict), The Persian Gulf conflict while George Bush Sr. replaced into US president & the present conflict in Afghanistan & we are nonetheless battling in this one. apart from that, Canada has sent militia "peace keepers" decrease than a mandate from the United countries in diverse places maximum particularly Cyprus.

Yes, they currently have forces in Afghanistan, they were part of the U.N. forces in Vietnam and Korea. The Canadian Army was a major part of the D-Day invasion at Normandy and they were part of the British Army in WWI.

Troll, or sadly ignorant?

"From little towns in a far land we came
To save our honour and a world aflame
By little towns in a far land we sleep;
And trust that world we won for you to keep"

Rudyard Kipling, epitaph on a Canadian memorial to the dead of WW1

WW1: St Julien, 2nd Ypres, The Somme, Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele...

WW2: Dieppe, bloody Dieppe.
Caen, Falaise...

But that's to neglect the navy and airforce.
