Oops, he actually had six. Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Catherine Parr. Clearly he had a bit of a thing for the name Catherine :o)

Henry VIII had 6 wives in total and was out lived by one.

Catherine of Aragon (m 1509 - 1533 Divorced)
Anne Boleyn (m 1533 - 1536 Executed)
Jane Seymour (m 1536 - 1537 Died)
Anne of Cleves (m 1540 Jan - July Divorced)
Kathryn Howard (m 1540 - 1542 Executed)
Katherine Parr (m 1543 - 1547 Widowed)

Wife 1-Catherine of Aragon- When Henry took over as head of church of England he declared it invalid on grounds that you cant sleep with your brothers widow.(cited in old testament).

Wife 2-Anne Boleyn- Declared illegal(by pope) as he was still married to Catherine.

Wife 4- Anne of ClevesAnnulled ( not same as divorce - annull =legally the marriage didnt take place)

Wife 5-Catherine Howad- annulled.

So he was legally married to:
Catherine Parr (number six) and Jane Seymour (number 3)
