Good question. As it happens I just took delivery of Swarfega Oil & Grease remover today. I'm going to use it with my water compressor spray set up to clean the drive.

Check this review of products from Auto Express on Driveway cleaners. Interesting read if you ask me.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/203335/driveway_cleaners.html

(All Auto Express reviews on products are interesting and have helped me source often the best tool for the job.. instead of some rubbishy naff tool or product)

I too have a tarmac driveway.. and am planning just testing a little of the Swarfega Oil & Grease remover on a small area out of sight.. to check if there is any reaction. GL.

it will eat into the tarmac , wont destroy but wont do any good :::!!!! put a spot on a bit of tarmac and watch it bubble away::!! pressure wash the paint off after sanding .(sounds silly) the top surface and applying some white spirit

I would be on the safe side and use paint remover, the one that removes paint from dried up paint on paint brushes. if it can remove paint from these it will almost certainly remove it from tarmac without harming it, don't use brick acid.

lease a warm air gun (and a lengthy extension cord, if want be). warmth up the paint with the nice and cozy air gun and use a scraper to scrape the paint up. The little that's left behind will be disolved with turpentine or different solvent and blotted up with a rag or 2.

That's what the contractors use to clean brick. muriatic acid.

I may not have spelled it right but when you get to the store, its close enough to get you there. Good luck
