I don't think that a newborn will be working just yet. When/if you apply for citizenship, the child will get it as well, but if you do not, your child will not either. You don't get citizenship automatically just because you give birth in the US, there's a ling line of people waiting, and you'll have to step to the end of the line.

If your child is born anywhere in the US, it will be an american citizen. After that, you can become one, due to your child's status.

Talk to an immigration official about it. There has to be one somewhere in NY.

Babies don't get green cards - they get passports, something much more valuable.
